When I was in Library school I took a class where we read children's books. Supposedly the teacher was an expert in this area. One lecture he gave had to do with Goodnight Moon. I was half asleep during this lecture and only heard of his ill feelings toward the author Margaret Wise Brown. Ever since, I've had it in my subconscious to dislike all her books.
I do not dislike this book, however. The illustrations are drawn a bit juvenile. But I do like the poetry. It would be an excellent book to do for a story time. The pictures are bright and understandable. If you are reading to a group, try to get a bigger book as the earlier published books are quite small and the pictures would be hard to see.
